Born in 1975, Louis is driven by tireless creative energy. From his early youth, he knew he was predestined for “fine work”. Realizing that it would be no good for him to stay in school any longer, he decided to make his dream a reality. He then chose to follow the path of excellence. More than a job, it was above all the material of leather that fascinated him. Seduced by its persistence of smell, its quality and the variety of skins to work with, he immediately understood its creative potential.

What better way to express yourself than the world of Fashion? Louis then chose a demanding, meticulous and exceptional profession: Saddler Leatherworker. In 1993, he began his apprenticeship with the Compagnons du Devoir, which allowed him to travel and work for prestigious Houses. From city to city, he perfected his knowledge until settling in Paris, where he worked for Hermès and Louis Vuitton.

In 2006, wanting autonomy, he set up his own structure in Paris. Alone, he manufactured unique pieces for luxury houses, items for fashion shows and prototypes. Following his momentum, he created his own brand: Louis Chelli, specializing in very high-end custom exotic leather items, some hand-sewn with gold thread. He developed a personal technique for sewing and magnifying shagreen, a difficult-to-work fish leather, making it his specialty.

At the same time, in 2006, Louis began training individuals in upskilling or retraining and created the Louis Chelli Academy. Passionate about his profession, he collaborates with professional brands such as Éprose, Sibel or Stilz Chimie, developing new products and advising them.
